AIM To explore the Nourishing Yin antitoxic capsule(YC2),a preparation of traditional Chinese medicine, on the immunological function in Yin deficiency syndrome rats induced by glucocorticoids. Methods Forty SD rats were randomly allocated to four groups: normal control group, Yin deficiency model control (YD) group, YC2 group, Liuwei Dihuang pills (LD) group (with the action of nourishing Yin and replenishing kidney) and Guifu Dihuang pills (GD) group (with the action of nourishing Yang and replenishing kidney). Radio-immunologic method was used to observe the serum corticosteroid (CORT) contents, IL-1 β and TNF- α in blood serum in blood serum; T lymphocyte subsets of peripheral blood in rats were detected by flow cytometer. Some of the organs were weighted and the index of thymus and spleen were calculated; the ultrastructure changes of thymus in rats were observed at 9d after medicine pretreatment and replicated Yin deficiency model. Thymic ultrastructure was observed under light and transmission electron microscope (TEM) examination. Results Compared with normal group, the contents of CORT were higher in model control group (P<0.05) and significantly higher in GD group (P<0.01). The contents of CORT in YC2 and LD group were lower than in model...
