| Objective : To observe the changes of IL-4 and IFN-γconcentration in serum of asthmatic rat after the rats were given the thoracic epidural block combined with Chinese herbal medicine. To probe the preventive and therapeutic effect on the asthmatic rat, provided a new technique for clinical treatment on asthma.Methods: 40 cases of healthy SD rat(20 male and 20 female) were randomized divided into five groups, i.e.blank group(A group), asthma group(B group), Chinese herbal medicine group(C group), epidural block group(D group), Chinese herbal medicine combined with epidural block group(E group). B,C,D and E group were used to make asthmatic model.D and E group were used to make epidural block model. Chinese herbal medicine were given to C and E group, Bupivicaine was given from the path of epidural block to D and E group. ELISA method was applied to detect IL-4 concentration and IFN-γconcentration of the serum.Results: The B group compared with A group,IL-4 concentration of the serum showed higher(P<0.01), IFN-γconcentration of the serum showed lower(P<0.01).The C and D group compared with the B group, decreasing the IL-4 concentration of the serum and increasing the IFN-γconcentration of the serum(P<0.01).The E group compared with the C and D group,IL-4 concentration of the serum showed lower (P<0.01),IFN-γconcentration of the serum showed higher (P<0.01).There was no significant difference beween the E group and the A group (p>0.05).Conclusion: (l)The methods of thoracic epidural block and Chinese herbal medicine can decreased the IL-4 concentration of the serum in rats with asthma. On serum of the rat with asthmas,IFN-γconcentration increase significantly.(2)Chinese herbal medicine combined with the thoracic epidural block can improve this kind of state. It showed that Chinese herbal medicine combined with the thoracic epidural block can influence cytokine secretion by cells, and exert the preventive and therapeutic effects.
