ObjectiveTo study the relationship between the level of leptin, adiponectin, superoxide dismutase(SOD),blood insulin, blood glucose, insulin resistance index, body mass index, waist circumference and Damp-Heat Syndrome in Type 2 diabetes, to discuss the significance of Damp-Heat Syndrome in treatment based on syndrome differentiation of Type 2 diabetes, in order to find the objective evidence of differentiation, of symptoms and signs of traditional Chinese medicine of Type 2 diabetes and to guide clinic treatment better.Methods61 cases of Type 2 diabetes were divided into Damp-Heat Syndrome group and non- Damp-Heat Syndrome group according to symptom, pulse tracings and tongue demonstration. There are 31 cases in the Damp-Heat Syndrome group and 30 cases in the non- Damp-Heat Syndrome group. Body height, body weight and waist circumference of the patients were measured. The level of leptin, adiponectin, superoxide dismutase(SOD),blood insulin, blood glucose of the patients were checked. Calculate the body mass index and insulin resistance index. The differences of all the indexes in the two groups were compared. Analysis the dependability between leptin, adiponectin and other indexes. In addition, leptin, adiponectin and superoxide dismutase of 23 persons who were healthy were checked and compared with the two groups of Type 2 diabetes.ResultsThe level of leptin of the two groups of Type 2 diabetes is significantly higher than those of the healthy persons. The levels of adiponectin and superoxide dismutase of the two groups of Type 2 diabetes is significantly lower than that of the healthy persons. The levels of leptin, fasting plasma insulin, insulin resistance index and body mass index of the patients in the Damp-Heat Syndrome group are higher than in the non- Damp-Heat Syndrome group. The level of adiponectin of the patients in the Damp-Heat Syndrome group is lower than that in the non- Damp-Heat Syndrome group. There is positive correlation between the level of leptin and insulin resistance index and negative correlation between adiponectin and insulin resistance index.ConclusionThere is high level of leptin and low level of adiponectin in the patients of Type 2 diabetes. Damp-Heat Syndrome is important in the bdifferentiation of symptoms and signs in Type 2 diabetes. There is close relationship between Damp-Heat Syndrome and the level of leptin, adiponectin, fasting plasma insulin ,insulin resistance index and body mass index. The level of leptin, adiponectin, fasting plasma insulin, insulin resistance index and body mass index can be the objective evidence of differentiation of symptoms and signs of Damp-Heat Syndrome and the appraisement of curative of Damp-Heat Syndrome.
