Objective: To evaluate the relationship between effects of Buyanghuanwu decoctioncombined with laser photocoagulation on Endothelin 1 in patiens with Diabetic Retinopathyand delay the development of Diabetic Retinopathy, discussion the new way in prevention andtreatment of Diabetic Retinopathy. Methods: There were 40 eyes of 20 cases in the nonproliferative diabeticretinopathy(NPDR), 34 eyes of 20 cases in the proliferative diabetic retinopathy(PDR),treatedwith modified Buyanghuanwu decoction together with laser photocoagulation. Observs thelevel change of Endothelin 1 and clinical therapeutic effects of these 2 groups. Results: (1) Two moth after therapy, significant reduce of level of Endothelin 1 werefound in NPDR and PDR as compared to that before treatment,, (P<0.01 and P<0.01). (2)Two month after therapy, no significant difference of level of Endothelin 1 were found inNPDR and helathy person(P>0.05), significant difference of level of Endothelin 1 were foundin PDR and helathy person, (P<0.05). (3) A month after therapy, in the rate of retinalhaemorrhage and effusion resolution was 80.0%in NPDR, and 79.4%in PDR.. (4) Twomonth after therapy, in the rate of macular edema and microaneurysm resolution was 82.5%in NPDR, and 82.3%in PDR.. (5) Two moth after therapy, significant improvement of visualacuity were found in NPDR and PDR as compared to that before treatment, (P<0.05 andP<0.05). (6)The delitescence and swing of P-VEP of patients of these 2 Groups showedsignificant difference as compared to that before treatment, (P<0.01); The swing of OPS fpatients of these 2 Groups showed significant difference as compared to that before treatment,(P<0.05). (7) A month after treatment, significant reduce of retina circulation time werefound in NPDR and PDR as compared to that before treatment,, (P<0.05). (8) A month aftertreatment, significant reduce of HbAlc in NPDR and PDR as compared to that beforetreatment, (P<0.05). (9) The overall effectiveness of NPDR was 85.0%, the overalleffectiveness of PDR was 82.4%.Conclusion: (1) Buyanghuanwu decoction combined with laser photocoagulation have positive effects on Endothelin 1 in patiens with Diabetic Retinopathy. (2) ModifiedBuyanghuanwu decoction together with laser photocoagulation proved to have positiveresults.
