Objective: The study makes the solution to the problem of the clinical psychological nursing practice be cut-in point, tries to manufacture the Mental Status Questionnaire for the General Surgical Patients, to conclude and extract the mental status'potential effective factors of the patients in general surgery. So that the general surgery nurses can find out the mental status of the surgery patients quickly and clearly. By this way, we can establish an effective, credible, and convenient mental status evaluation tool; Comparing different patients to conclude the influential factor of mental problem. This helps to provide the theory basis and reference data for clinical psychological nursing. By this way to seek some practical nursing interventions. The ultimate purpose is to control the negative mood of general surgery, to enhance operative safe, to promote intention and make the patients rehabilitative early.Methods:We collect the questionnaire items by querying literature, consulting with the nursing experts , the patients of the general surgery and studying the former psychological scale. Item analysis and principal component analysis help to reject the quality. Then use exploratory factor analysis refines the latency factors of mental status. Organize the primary theoretic model. In the last, finish the Mental Status Questionnaire for the General Surgical Patients and test its reliability and validity; Use this scale to investigate the mental status of patients in general surgery, compare the mental status of different group. Based on the comparing result, analyze the high-risk group and to raise the corresponding psychological nursing strategy.Result: There are five latency factors affect the mental status of patients in general surgery. They are anxiety/depression states, dread, genneral body condition, anticipatory grieving special quality anxiety and society flinch. The questionnaire's reliability and validity are preferable. Investigation result indicates that sex, culture degree, family economy, health need satisfied degree, society support, former or post operation, time of be in hospital, diagnosis affect the mental status; Age, family work force, family decision-maker don't.Conclusion: 1 The questionnaire's reliability and validity are preferable. 2 There are five latency factors affect the mental status of patients in general surgery.
