Objective: To investigate the relationship between ankle-brachial index (ABI),carotid artery intima-media thickness (IMT) and its plaque scor, ocular fundus arteriosclerosis with coronary heart disease(CHD).Methods: 120 patients and suspected CHD were divided into two groups by selective coronary angiography: CHD group (n=92) and NCHD group (without CHD, n=28). CHD group was further divided into three subgroups according to the severity and coronary branches involved. The ABI,IMT and fundus oculi were measured in all patients. Results: With regard to vascular risk factors, such as aging, smoking and diabetes, ABI,IMT,and fundus oculi were related to the extent of coronary artery disease as measured by number of coronary arteries diseased. The severity of coronary stenosis was also associated with ABI,IMT and fundus oculi. Conclusion: ABI and carotid artery IMT and fundus oculi were related to coronary heart disease significantly, which may be helpful in evaluating CHD and its severity.
