Objective:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of in the treatment of chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome(CP/CPPS)after transurethral electro -chemical therapy. Methods:A own control method was applied in the study. After the 2-glass test and expressed prostate secretion(EPS)examination,15 patients with CP/CPPS were recruited and treated by transurethral electrochemical therapy. Before and 2 and 4 weeks after the treatment, the patients were visited and evaluated by the national institute health-chronic prostatis symptom index(NIH-CPSI),EPS,and asked about the side effects. Results:All cases had completed the follow-up.1 cases(6.6%)were completely cured ,accompanied by remarkable effective in 7 cases(46.7%)and improved in 6 cases(40%).The total remarkable efficacy was 53.3%and improved 93.3%.Scores of CPSI decreased significantly compared with pre-treatment(95%confidence interval 8.352-17.115).But there was not significant difference in the white blood cell count and lipid in the EPS(p>0.05).Conclusions:It is suggested that transurethral electrochemical therapy may be a useful and safe method for treatment of CP/CPPS.
