Spirulina platensis is multi-cell filamentou blue-green alga, and it is an economic microagla in the largest scale of research and exploiture inland and abroad. The phycobiliproteins are kinds of active protein which extensively exists in spirulina, and they bear phycobilin with fluorescence idiosyncrasy, so the phycobiliproteins possesses great values in theory research as well as exploiture. The phycobiliproteins not only can be used as natureal pigments in food, cosmetic and dye industries, but also can be applied in the area of medicaments and healthy foods since it can improve immune capability and tumour, radiation, caducity, anaemia and so on. In addition, as fluorescence molecular probe and photosensitive reagent, it has fine prospect in clinical diagnoses, immunochemistry, bioengineering and rumor laser therapy.Phycocyanin is separated from crude phycobiliproteins when Spirulina Platensis are precipitated in soild ammonium sulphate and then chromatographed on a hydroxylapatite colomn.Though Phycocyanin property experiments, Phycocyanin is steady in 30℃, but it will be denatured above 40℃environment. Phycocyanin is steady on condition that pH value is neutral, else if, it would be denatured. The MTT assay is employed to evaluate the effects of Phycocyanin and it's hydrolysates on the inhibition of Hela cells. Colorimetric method were used to measure the activities of Caspase-3 of Hela. It indicated that Phycocyanins have obvious inhibition effect on HeLa cells in vitro. The inhibition rate on cancer cells is 29.2% when the concentration of Phycocyanin is 100 mg/L and the enzymatic hydrolysates can inhibit 56.5% Hela cells. The active protein of Caspase-3 can be found when Hela cells are treated with C-phycocyanin (100mg/L) 12 h later.
