Objective:To discuss the three-dimensional reconstruction of occitipal bone by Amira 3.1 based on personal computer, and to establish a 3D digitizing model of occitipal bone. Methods:Dual phase serial computed tomography(CT) images from 20 patients were loaded into TGS Amira 3.1 running on a PC with Windows XP.Image crop, segmentation and3D reconstruction followed, according to partieuiarities of anatomy structures and traits of images,The 3D reconstruction of oecitipal bone was performed by several algorithms. Results:A 3D model of occitipal bone was established, and these images could not only reveal the three dimensional structure and morphology, but also revolve along X,Y and Z axis continuously. The stereoscopy of bone destruction, formation and their relationship with Surrounding tissue could be displayed in 3D reconstruction images, and also, any diameter and angle of the structures reconstructed could be measured conveniently.Conclusion:3D images of spiral CT show anatomic and pathologicoanatomic relationship of maxilloficial diseases more accurately and sterescopieally, gain more images information, and play an important role in the fields of anatomy, image analysis and clinical medicine, and the Amira 3.1 software is of vital for three-dimensional reconstruction.
