Development And Evaluation Of The Chronic Gastritis Subscale In Spleen And Stomach Disease PRO Scale (SSDPRO-CG)

BACKGROUND and OBJECTIVE:The Spleen and Stomach disease PRO scale is a reliable and valid disease-specific instrument used for measuring the Traditional Chinese medicine curative effect.Based on it,this study was going to develop and evaluate the Chronic Gastritis subscale in Spleen and Stomach disease PRO scale(SSDPRO-CG).METHODS:According to the structured group methods of instrument development,the instrument with Chinese cultural background was developed,and evaluated by analyzing the data from 200 chronic gastritis patients.By applying 5 kinds of statistical methods,including expert' s judgment for the items weightiness,factor analysis,stepwise regression,discriminant analysis and Crobach' sαcoefficient,44 items were kept to form a formal scale.RESULTS:The correlation coefficient between the subtotal of odd and that of even item was 0.8705;the correlation coefficients for sub-scale were 0.8874, 0.8143,0.6752 and 0.7618.The Crobach' sαfor each domain was higher than 0.70.The test-retest reliability for the overall scale and 4 domains were all above 0.70.The result of Correlation analysis showed that each facet was correlated to it's own domain(r＞0.7) and lowly correlated to other domains. In physiology dimension,each item was correlated to it's own facet and it's own domain(r＞0.5) except the items of satiety and heavy crash feeling in belly. In the other dimensions,each item was correlated to it's own facet and it's own domain(r＞0.7).Confirmatory factor analysis showed that the CFI of the scale was 0.956 and the CFI of 4 domains were 0.967,0.966,0.957 and 0.973 respectively,the results of IRT showed that all items didn't have uniform DIF and non-uniform DIF.A scale not only should be reliable and valid but also should be able to detect a difference of health people and patients.The t-test showed that the SSDPRO-CG scale was able to reflect the difference of SSD-PRO between healthy people and patients(P＜0.01).CONCLUSION:The Chronic Gastritis subscale in Spleen and Stomach disease PRO scale is a reliable and valid disease-specific instrument.
