Psoriasis is now more recognized as a chronic T-lymphocyte mediated inflammatory and proliferous skin disease. With the study of immune pathogenesis and the progress of genetic engineering technology, it has been gradually developed a wide range of biological agents ,which can be role-specific to different signal transduction molecules and channels in the course of T cell activation, blocking the disease process. Biological agents have achieved good results in clinical trials and clinical treatment.According to the role of targets, they can be divided into 5 categories:①inhibit antigen-presenting and co-stimulation;②inhibit T lymphocyte activation;③direct anti-activated T lymphocytes;④inhibit inflammatory mediators;⑤regulation of cytokine balance. There is a few of information about the application of biological agents and the traditional medicine in treatment of psoriasis, the joint applications, and its long-term efficacy and adverse reactions requires further study and observation. In short, a number of target-specific biological agents, whether in the psoriasis disease remission, recurrence interval prolongation, or security have shown unique advantages of the treatment, showing a good clinical application prospect. However, clinical use of biological agents is still not ripe. With the advances of pharmaceutical biotechnology ,through the multi-molecular target strategy, multi-target combination as well as the combination of traditional treatment and a new biological agents, we believe that psoriasis would be long-term remissied or even cured, and the quality of life of patients would be greatly improved.
