【Objective】:To investigate the prevalence of depression and its risk facts in type 2 diabetics.【Methods】we conducted a cross-sectional study of diabetics from inpatient in the second affiliated hospital of Kunming Medical colledge.CES-D Scale was used to screen depression in 176 patients[male:81cases,female:76cases].Depression was defined when the depression index was more than 16,Meanwhile,the demographic data, metabolic data and diabetes-related health behaviors were also investigated. We counted out the prevalence of depression in diabetics, used Chi-square statistic to conduct univariate analysis and unconditional multivariate Logistic regression to screen the risk facts of depression.【Result】55 of 176 diabetics had depression. All diabetics were divided into two groups:group(55 cases) with depression and group(121 cases) without depression, variables respectively went into Chi-square statistic include age, sex, education level,BMI,SBP,DBP,FBG,PBG2h,HbAlC,duration,the number of chronic diabetic complication by contrasting between two groups, there were significant differences in the variables:age, education level,BMI,DBP,FBG,HbAlC,duration, the number of chronic diabetic complication, and put these eight variables into unconditional multivariate Logistic regression, variables went into the unconditional multivariate Logistic regression equation included education level,FBG,HbAlC,the number of chronic diabetic complication.【Conclusion】The prevalence of depression in diabetics is 31.3%,the result obviously greater than the prevalence of depression in general population. The high prevalence of depression in type 2 diabetics is a result of many facts that related to psychological stress, neuroendocrine, neural biochemistry etc.Education level,FBG,HbAlC,the number of chronic diabetic complication are independent risk factors of depression. To improve the quality of diabetics living,we should pay more attention to these patients with high education level, bad control in blood glucose levels or many numbers of chronic diabetic complications in our clinical practice,if the diabetic patient who suffered from the mental disease such as depression should be accepted therapy earlier.
