Objective:Analyze the high frequence ultrasonography features and its relative pathologic basis of small breast neoplasm in order to improve the accuracy of small breast neoplasm diagnosis.Methods:64 cases of small breast neoplasm with less than 2cm size,included 30 cases of small breast carcinoma and 34 cases of breast fibroadenoma,confirmed by pathology, were analyzed retrospectively for manifestation or characteristic high frequence ultrasonography and pathologic bases.Results: (1).There was significant difference between breast fibroadenoma and small breast carcinoma regarding the appearance of lesions including the irregular shape,spiculated margin,high-level echo halo,microcalcification(p<0.01).The posterior echo.internal echo and length -breadth ratio had not significant (p>0.05). (2).As the diagnosis value of irregular shape speculated margin, high-leve lecho halo,microcalcification of the small breast carcinoma ,sensibility was less than 70.%, the specificity of spiculated margin, high-level echo halo was 100%, the accuracy of spiculated margin and irregular shape speculated was 84.3%. As the diagnosis value of capsules of breast fibroadenoma,the sensibility was 91.1%, the specificity was 96.6%, the positive predictive value was 96.8%,negative predictive value was 90.6% and the accuracy was 93.7%.(3).High frequence ultrasonography appearance of small breast neoplasm have different appearance from placentas obtained.Conclusions:High frequence ultrasonography appearance of breast cancers is related to pathologic characteristics and different ultrasonography features of small breast neoplasm have different pathologic characteristics.In these Gray-scale ultrasonography appearance,irregular shape,speculated margin,high-levele halo, microcalcification were important feature of the small breast carcinoma. capsules were important feature of breast fibroadenoma.
