Objective To explore the relationship between serum high-sensitivity C-reactive protein and the severity of coronary atherosclerosis. Methods The study concluded 249 patients who underwent coronary artery angiography was diagnosed with coronary artery disease. The severity of coronary atherosclerosis was defined by the modified Gensini's score system. They were classified into minimal group(score<5,n=63),moderate group(5≤score<10,n=96),severe group(score≥10,n=90),the levels of hs-CRP,body mass index(BMI),Waist-to-Hip Ratio(WHR),lipids and so on were determined. Results Serum hs-CRP concentration gradually increased in minimal, moderate and severe group,Serum hs-CRP level in severe group was significantly higher elevations as compared with that of other groups, showed statistical differences between them. And serum hs-CRP levels in CAD patients was positively relative to the modified Gensini's score,hs-CRP was not independently associated with the modified Gensini's score. Conclusion The levels of serum hs-CRP was significantly associated with the severity of coronary atherosclerosis and maybe was not an independent risk factor of the severity of coronary atherosclerosis.
