| ObjectivesTo investigate the role of Akt/ mTOR signal pathway in the pathogenesis of basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma by observing the expressions of Akt and mTOR in basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma, and their clinical significances.MethodsImmunohistochemical method was applied to detect the expressions of Akt and mTOR in skin specimens including 37 cases of basal cell carcinoma,28 cases of squamous cell carcinoma and 16 cases of normal skin.Results(1)The rate of positive expression of Akt in basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and normal skin tissue were 62.2%, 64.3%,12.5%respectively.The rate of positive expression of mTOR in basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and normal skin tissue were 83.8%,89.3%,37.5%respectively.There were significant differences between normal skin tissues and squamous cell carcinoma/ basal cell carcinoma in the expression of Akt and mTOR(P<0.05).(2)There was no difference between basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma in the expression of Akt and mTOR(P>0.05). (3)There were significantly positive correlation between the expression of Akt and mTOR in basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma.ConclusionsAkt/mTOR signal pathway may play an important role in the pathogenesis of basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma. |
