| Objective: To analyze the clinical characteristics and prognosis of triple-negative breast cancer confirmed by immunohisto chemistry. Methods: 116 cases of invasive breast cancer with complete clinical and following-up informations were collected by random, which were all examined the expressions of ER,PR,p53,HER2,VEGF and EGFR protein by immunohistochemical staining method. 22 triple-negative breast cancer contained(19.0%).Results: 22 triple-negative breast cancer occoured in 112 cases (19.0%). Triple-negative breast cancer significantly correlated with tumor size, grade, lymph node metastasis and protein p53,EGFR (p<0.05) and not significantly with age, menopause, protein VEGF. After a median following-up period of 96 months (range: 32-123 months), 12 triple-negative breast cancer patients relapsed distantly, while 20 patients with non triple-negative phenotype relapsed distantly (p<0.05). Survival analysis showed that triple-negative phenotype was inversely associated with overall survival (p<0.05), but not significantly with disease free survival(p=0.2877). Multivariate Cox model analysis showed that tumor size, lymph node status, histological grade and triple-negative phenotype provided independent significant predictive power. Conclusions: Triple-negative breast cancer confirmed by immunohistochemistry have specified clinical characteristics. The patients with triple-negative breast cancer have worse prognosis. So far ,there is no conclusive effective treatment, which needs more study. |
