Objective: Some standardized mental inventories were used to investigate the behavior and adaptive behavior characters in ADHD children.①to investigate and compare the behavior and adaptive behavior characters between children with ADHD and normal children.②to analyze the relationship between psychology, social factors and behavior and adaptive behavior in order to work out rational psychological intervention measures. Methods: 50 children with ADHD and 53 normal children were evaluated with Child behavior checklist (CBCL) and Child adaptive behavior scale (CABS) and got the incidence rate of behavior and adaptive behavior. Chi-square test, rank sum test, t test were used to analyze results of CBCL and CABS. Multiple linear stepwise regression analyses were used to identify the variables associated with the scores of CBCL and CABS, with the scores as dependent variable. Independent variables included IQ, attention, scores of DSM-IV, et al.Results:①The prevalence rates of social abilities and behavior problems in children with ADHD were 28% and 48%; the prevalence rate of adaptive behaviors were 54%, the rates were significantly different from the control group(p<0.01).②Factor analysis showed that there were differences in CBCL between the two groups: in social ability part the scores of activity in ADHD children were significantly higher than normal children(p<0.05), and scores of social intercourse and school performance were lower than those of the control groups(p<0.01); in behavior problem part , all the scores were higher than the control groups(p<0.05).③In CABS there were no statistic differences in sensation-motion and self-care between the two groups(p>0.05); and in the rest of scale the scores in ADHD group were lower than the control group(p<0.05).④Correlation analysis showed: social abilities of CBCL were positively correlated with IQ, and negatively correlated with the scores of impulse; behavior problems of CBCL were negatively correlated with family income and IQ, and positively correlated with the scores of hyperactivity and impulse; independence of adaptive behavior were negatively correlated with scores of attention-deficiency and anxiety-depression; cognition of adaptive behavior were positively correlated with IQ, attention, and school performance, and negatively correlated with the scores of hyperactivity and attention-deficiency, retraction, thinking problem, attention problem and general scores of behavior problem; social/ self-control of adaptive behavior were positively correlated with IQ, social performance, social ability, and negatively correlated with the scores of hyperactivity and impulse, illegal behavior, aggression, extraversion and general scores of behavior problem; ADQ of adaptive behavior were positively correlated with IQ, attention, social performance, school performance and general scores of behavior problem, and negatively correlated with the scores of impulse and attention- deficiency, retraction, illegal behavior and general scores of behavior problem.⑤Multiple linear stepwise regression analysis suggested that general mean scores of social ability were positively correlated with IQ, social/ self-control and ADQ, and negatively correlated with scores of impulse; general mean scores of behavior problem were positively correlated with scores of impulse, and negatively correlated with cognition and ADQ; general mean scores of ADQ were positively correlated with IQ and attention, and negatively correlated with scores of impulse and general scores of behavior problem.Conclusions:①Children with ADHD had broad and obvious behavior and adaptability disorder, so society should pay special attention.②Children with ADHD's activities are better than normal children, so they should be encouraged, and given more chance, and educated according to themselves.③Correlation analysis showed behavior and adaptability were affected by many factors, and different related factors had different effects on behavior and adaptability.④Multiple linear stepwise regression analysis suggested behavior and adaptability had obvious correlations with IQ, attention and symptoms of ADHD.
