ObjectiveThis randomized controlled study makes objective evaluation of the safety and effect of applying fire needle acupuncture to treat periarthritis of shoulder.MethodsThe subjects are patients of periarthritis of shoulders. The qualified subjects are classified into Treatment Group (Fire Needle Acupuncture Group) and the Controlled Group (Common Acupuncture Group) with 30 patients in each group.Collect the clinical material in time after the clinical research. Establish a database with software Epi Data 3.01. Analyze and compare the total effective power, clinical symptoms and body signs, etc and finally objectively evaluate the clinical effect and safety. Statistics methods:The classified material is processed with 2 test. The ranked material is processed with Wilcoxon rank sum test (rectification). The comparison of the average of the two samples takes t test or Wilcoxon rank sum test. The self circa comparison takes pair t test or Wilcoxon pair rank sum test. Analyze with software SPSS 17.0.ResultCompare the age, gender, disease course and degree of subjects before treatment, the author finds the difference has no significance (P>0.05) which indicates there's comparability between the baseline material of the two groups. There's significance (P<0.05) of difference in comparing the total effective power of Chinese Medicine syndromes. The Treatment Group's clinical recovery rate is 36.6%, the excellence rate is 40.0%, the effective power is 16.6%while those of the Controlled Group are 23.3%,26.6%,26.6%respectively. Analysis of the improvement of complaints:In the two groups, the difference has no statistical significance (P>0.05)in improving the complaints including shoulder joint pain, inward rotation difficulty, difficulty in touching back with the opposite hand and difficulty in touching back with the diseased hand. The difference has statistical significance (P<0.05) in improving the outward rotation of shoulder joints.Analysis of the disappearance rate of the complaints:In the two groups, the difference has no statistical significance (P>0.05) in the disappearance rate of the complaints including inward rotation difficulty, difficulty in touching back with the opposite hand and difficulty in touching back with the diseased hand. The difference has statistical significance (P<0.05) in the disappearances rate of the complaints like shoulder joint pain and the outward rotation.Chinese Medicine Symptoms Score, Joint Pain Index Score and Joint Motion Function Score:It shows that the difference of the three kinds of scores before and after treatment has statistical significance (P<0.05). The comparison of the alteration values of two groups before and after treatment has statistical significance (P<0.05)No abnormality is found in the blood routine test, liver and kidney function test and electrocardiogram test.ConclusionThe total effective power of the Treatment Group is 93.3%and that of the Controlled Group is 76.7%. The difference has statistical significance (P<0.05). It can be said that the total effective power of the Fire Needle Acupuncture Group is superior to that of the Common Acupuncture Group. The Fire Needle Acupuncture Group has advantage in improving the shoulder joint pain and outward rotation, but has equivalent effect with Common Acupuncture Group in improving the inward rotation, touching back with the opposite hand and touching ear with hand. The analysis of Chinese Medicine Symptoms Score, Pain Index Score and Joint Motion Function Score before and after treatment shows that the Fire Needle Acupuncture Group is superior to Controlled Group. |
