To investigate the expression of p57kip2, ki67 expression in normal cervical squamous epithelium, cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) and cervical cancer.Immunohistochemical SP method detected p57 KIP2, ki67 expression in 61 cervical cancer cases, cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) 60 cases and normal cervical squamous epithelium 20 cases. SPSS software was used for statistical analysis. The expression of P57kip2 and ki67 in normal cervical squamous epithelium, CIN has no significant difference. The expression of P57kip2 is much lower (X2 =30.245, P<0.01) and that of ki67 (X2=70.19, P<0.01) is much higher in cervical cancer than those in cervical squamous epithelium and CIN. No significant difference was found in the expression among different age groups. The expression of P57kip2 has positive and negative relation respectively with the degree of cervical cancer differentiation (P=0.026,P<0.05) and lymph node invasion (P=0.026, P<0.05). The expression of ki67 has negative and positive relation respectively with the degree of cervical cancer differentiation (P=0.027,P<0.05) and lymph node invasion (P=0.04, P<0.05). The expression of p57kip2 but not ki67 is upregulated with the decrease of clinical stage of cervical cancer. Negative correlation was found between the expression of p57kip2 and ki67 in cervical cancer tissue. r=-0.28,P<0.01.Downregulation of P57kip2 expression and upregulation of ki67 expression may play an important role in the initiation, development and metastasis. Key words cervical cancer; p57kip2; ki67; immunohistochemistry...
