ABSTRACT: OBJECTIVE:To make out the inflammatory role played by adipocytokines in systemic lupus erythematosis atherosclerosis.METHODS:Compare the serum levels of Leptin,Visfatin, LP-PLA2 and Hcy between patients with systemic lupus and the healthy controls using the method of ELISA and estimate baPWV,ABI,CIMT of every people evolved in this experiment. Thus to estimate the important role of Leptin and Visfatin serum levels in the initiation and development of atherosclerosis in patients with systemic lupus erythematosis.RESULT: Compared with the health controls,Leptin levels is significantly higher in patients with SLE(P<0.01)and Visfatin is also higher than controls(P<0.05);baPWV,the index of atherosclerosis,is significantly higher in SLE than controls. In the subgroups of SLE,Visfatin is higher in group with hypertension than not and baPWV is significantly higher than group with no hypertension.baPWV is also significantly higher in patients whose disease duration > 5years than patients with disease duration≤5years.CIMT is higher in patients with kidney disease than not (P<0.05).In all the experimenters,baPWV has statistical correlation with Leptin and Visfatin(P<0.05),so does inflammatory index Hcy with Leptin and Visfatin.Another inflammatory index LP-PLA2 has significant statistical correlation with the two adipocytokines(P<0.01).CONCLUSION: The inflammatory role played by Leptin and Visfatin may do a lot in the initiation and development of atherosclerosis in patients with systemic lupus erythematosis.
