| Objective:In this prospective study, our aim was to evaluate the efficacy and acceptance of acupuncture as a supportive antiemtic and antinausea approach during chemotherapy in lung cancer, further to provide clinical basis for the treatment of Chemotherapy-induced Nausea and VomitingPatients and Methods:40 patients receiving cisplatin-base chemotherapy for treatment of lung cancer were included.They were divided into two teams either with antiemetic therapy plus acupuncture and medicine or antiemetic medicine alone. During the chemotherapy, all the patients were receiving programmed antiemetic treatment with granisetron 3mg intravenous injection bid 30 minutes before chemotherapy and 4 hours after chemotherapy. For the control group, the patients were given metoclopramide 20mg intramuscular injection if they vomited within 5 days after chemotherapy, or given granisetron 3mg intravenous injection if they haved severe vomiting or kept vomiting. For acupuncture group, the patients were receiving additional treatment with acupuncture at point PC6,ST36,SP6 to decrease nausea and vomiting per day during the chemotherapy. Continue to have a acupuncture treatment if the vomiting exist or the appetiting integral was more than 9. metoclopramide or granisetron would given when the vomiting was uncontrolled as the treatment of control group. The amount of baseline,additional antiemetic meditation and the first occurrence time during the study was documented. A daily diary of nausea and vomiting episodes was recorded and an evaluated nausea score was completed at the end of the study。Their body weight,KPS,related clinic symptom were recorded before and after a chemotherapy. Results:Though SPSS 13.0 analyzing, acupuncture significantly improved the control rate of nausea and vomiting.It could reduce the course of nausea of treatment for vomiting and the number of antiemetic medicine in the study(P < 0.05). And acupuncture could improved the score of clinic symptom,KPS score and weigh. But the KPSand weight had no significant change before and after the observe(P>0.05). Except for needle pain, no side effects were noted.Conclusion:Nausea and vomiting were the most common side effect of chemotherapy which could reduced patients's quality of life or suspended the effective therapy. Western medicine such as 5-HT3 antagonist, NK-1 antagonist and corticosteroid could eased the symptom of nausea and vomiting reduced with cisplatin-based chemotherapy. But they may produced adverse effects such as constipation and extrapyramidal symptoms.The use of them were limited. Acupuncture as a therapy of TCM had good clinical effect for chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting and improved the quality of life... |
