Objective:To understand quality of life and its influencing factors among patients after hip replacement surgery and provide a scientific evidence for making appropriate rehabilitation measures. Methods: Patients with hip replacement surgery were selected using Simple sampling method at the first affiliated hospital of Anhui medical university From january to september in 2009. Using self-designed questionnaire investigated their quality of life. Questionnaire included age, sex, marital status, quality of life score, Harris score and prevalence conditions. All patients were recorded Harris scores and SF-36 score in the postoperative, while the general conditions and prevalence conditions were also recorded.Dates were dealed mainly by descriptive analysis, correlation analysis, multivariate regression analysis. Probability less than 0.05 was considered significant in two-tailed test. Results: 36.52% of 115 patients were males, females accounted for63.48%. The average age of patients was (67.38±13.14) years. 97.39% of patients were the Han nationality. 42.61% of patients living in cities. 39.13% of patients were primary schools in education, followed by illiteracy and junior high school, accounting for 22.61% and 19.13%, followed by illiteracy and junior high school, accounting for 22.61% and 19.13% respectively. 41.74% of patients were farmers. 84.35% of patients married. Patients having previously hip replacement survey accounted for 10.43%.31.30% of patients were diagnosed preoperatively avascular necrosis, followed by acute fractures, osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, accounting for 16.52%, 12.17% and 12.17% respectively. Patients with disease duration less than1 year accounted for 55.65%.73.04% of patients were implemented one side hip replacement surgery. PCS of Patients (including physical function, role physical, bodily pain, general health) and MCS (including vitality, social function, role emotional, mental health) were positively correlated. Quality of life of Patients were relatively poor. Univariate analysis showed that age, occupation, etiology, disease duration, types of comorbidities affected patient's PCS,MCS, quality of life composite score(both P<0.05) .Multivariate regression analysis showed that patient's age was statistically significant for PCS (P <0.001), age and etiology were statistically significant for MCS (both P <0.05).Conclusion: Quality of life of patients are not satisfied after hip replacement survery in three months. All scores were lower than the general population. PCS of Patients (including physical function, role physical, bodily pain, general health) and MCS (including vitality, social function, role emotional, mental health) were positively correlated. Quality of life were poorer than elder patients. Therefore, rehabilitation measures should be taken to maximize the improvement of quality of life.
