Objective To explore the effects of preoperative psychological intervention on reducing stress reaction and raising a sense of comfort of patients under general anesthesia undergoing operation.Method In this study,120 laparospic patients under general anesthesia undergoing selective operation were investigated and allocated randomly to two groups:the control group(n=60)received preoperative interview routinely, and the intervened group (n=60) received preoperative psychological intervention. Record data as follows:the scores of Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS),State Anxiety Inventory (S-AI) and vital signs (Blood Pressure ,Heart Rate and Pulse Oxygen Saturation) of patients on the day before operating day; vital signs of patients when they went into operating rooms;the scores of restlessness of all the patients during recovery period of general anesthesia; vital signs, the scores of S-AI and comfort of patients on the first day after the operating day; the scores of SAS and S-AI a week later. Results There were no significant differences in the S-AI scores and the Systolic Blood Pressure of patients before the operating day. The S-AI scores of the intervened group on the first day after the operating day were lower than the control group's (p<0.05) .The Systolic Blood Pressure of patients of the intervened group patients when they went into operating rooms were lower than the control group's (p<0.05) . The scores of restlessness of the intervened group during recovery period of general anesthesia were lower than the control group's (p<0.05).The scores of comfort of the intervened group were lower than the control group's (p<0.05).Conclusion Preoperative psychological intervention has some beneficial effects on reducing laparospic patients'anxiety, cardiovascular responses and occurrence of agitation produced by the stress. It also dose good to raising the sense of comfort of patients.
