Li Yu-qiu (Lee), in those composers working for the Chinese accordion music, has an authoritative position undoubtedly. For the establishment of Chinese accordion branch, Lee explores the work styles and the performance styles which are fit for Chinese culture tradition and national spirit. Many kinds of traditional music, ethnic tune material and the western composing technique are blended in his works, and then those works present the fresh and strong ethnic characteristics.This thesis focuses on the Beijing Opera factors in the works of Lee, taking the Beijing Opera factors'comprehensive display of the formation of motivation, technique and aesthetic features etc. as the research objective. Two of his works, facial makeup of Beijing opera (Jingju lianpu), prelude and fugue (Qianzouqu yu Fuge) are analyzed. To compare with these two works, other composers'works: Go up the mountain to beat the tiger(da hu shang shan), singing the facial makeup (chang lianpu and shuo chang lianpu), and Moments of Beijing Opera(Instants d'un Opera de Pekin) are also analyzed.Lee's personal experience, music creation experience and spread condition of Chinese Opera during his life are introduced. These special experiences offer the possibility and guarantee of using Beijing Opera factors for the music creation of Lee.Although the works using Beijing Opera factors are only a small part of Lee's works, we can observe composer's music thinking through these.The Beijing Opera factors being used in Go up the mountain to beat the tiger and singing the facial makeup, enriches the music works, and promote these works becoming classical works.
