Buddhism had been introduced into China for nearly two thousand years. During such a long time, in order to adapt to the need of feudal ruling class, Buddhism formed its own doctrines. Especially in Wejin period, Buddhist ushered in its heyday, Buddhist sutras were introduced into China and foreign senior monks constantly came, which eniched Chinese Buddhism ideological content a lot, and many famous monks were born in this period, Lushan Huiyuan is one of the famous representatives. his thought of Buddhism was to answer the challenge of society, focusing on the blame of the people, such as Karma Theory,Perspectives On Sramana's To The King and so on, this also makes his Buddhist thought has controversies properties. This paper will explore the sources and characteristics from the social environment,the development of the basic features of Buddhism,the teacher of Huiyuan Daoan's Buddhist thought and his own Buddhist activities. In this paper the structure and main content of discourse are:Introduction:this section mainly confessed the value and significance of this topic, the research methods,and its plans to solve problems. Then it argues that in Weijin period, Confucianism,Taoism,Metaphysics agitated with each other, and made social thought diversification. Meanwhile foreign Buddhism collided with Chinese traditional ideas in many aspects, causing many contradictions.Huiyuan, as the Buddhist leader,makes an enormous contribution to mediate the relationship between the Chinese feudal ruling class and traditional culture.Chapter 1:It is about the social background and the pedigree of Huiyuan's thoughts. This chapter basically to introduce the social environment of Huiyuan in history, and why Huiyuan was determined to convert to Buddha. It can get the historical origin and characteristics of Huiyuan's thoughts, therefore helps us to understand the Buddhism thought of Huiyuan better.Chapter 2:Shihuiyuan and his teacher Daoan. This chapter explores origin Daoan's Buddhist original thought,characteristics and mainly viewpoints,to discuss how Huiyuan inherited his Buddhist thought. This paper also made some simple overview on the development of Buddhism in India, in order to sort out the development of Chinese Buddhism during that time, and understand the origin of Huiyuan's Buddhist thought.Chapter 3:The Lushan era's Huiyuan. This chapter basically expounded Huiyuan's Buddhism activities after he lived Lushan, to explore the development and evolution of Huiyuan's Buddhist thought, whice is also the key point of this paper. The Lushan era's Huiyuan had inherited and developed Daoan's Buddhist thought very well. He initiated the organization to chant the name of the Buddha, translation field for Buddhism, wrote books on the subject, translation field for Buddhism, coordinate the relationship between Buddhism and Confucianism. Therefore, he laid solid foundation to make Buddhism became a relatively independent spirit strength and religious system.Conclusion:This section summarizes the main characteristics of Huiyuan's buddhism and its influence, and shows the value and significance of his buddhism on Chinese Buddhism history.
