As a important environment of growing and developing , family has a profound and lasting effect to individual mental health. The purpose of this empiric research is to deeper peoples understanding of interpersonal problems of undergraduate, and explore the relationship between interpersonal problems and family functioning , differentiation of self.We firstly introduced and translated the IIP-48, which is produced to assessment interpersonal problems by Gude,et al. Its reliability and validity are also tested. Then a number of college students from different areas are asked to undertake a series of questionnaires including IIP-48,FACESâ…¡-CV and DSI. The data is used to describe the actual state of interpersonal problems, family functioning , and differentiation of self of undergraduate. The relationship among these variations is investigated. The main results are as follows:(1)The Chinese version of IIP-48 has good indicators of reliability and validity, also its structure is in line with the theoretical model. IIP-48 could be used to assessment the quality of relationship and the source of stress in relationship.( 2 ) There exist some kind of problems in college students interpersonal interactions, and the problems are usually focused on Assertiveness Negative factor and Interpersonal Sensitivity Positive factor. Gender and birth place have significant main effects on students'interpersonal problems.(3)Family functioning significantly influenced college students interpersonal problems. Students from families which has low cohesion and low adaptability have more interpersonal problems. Cohesion and adaptability of the family are effective predictions to college students interpersonal problems.(4)The level of differentiation significantly influenced college students Interpersonal problems. Students with lower level of differentiation have more interpersonal problems.(5)The level of differentiation is a mediator between family functioning and interpersonal problems.
