Reconstruction Of Relationship Between Audience And Performance In Experimental Theatre

In 1980s, a special model of experimental theatre appeared in China as play of "Absolute Signal" and "Mother's Song" were put on the stage. It gave up the tradition of orthodox stage but pursued changing and flexibility, so as to break the relationship pattern between audience and actor.In this paper, the author first in the first chapter reviews the concept of experimental theatre and the relationship pattern between audience and performance which reveals the author's understanding of the relationship from the respect of space and psychology. In the second chapter, the analysis is concerned with the characteristic of the space which influences the relationship. Psychological influences based on the kind of space changing were discussed in the last chapter.Although the experimental theatre is still not boomed in the whole area of China, to be exactly be boomed only in Beijing and Shanghai, we should pay much attention to the vitality of this special theatre model. It is hoped that this paper will arouse the re-concentration of the relationship in experimental theatre and initiate the development of drama creation.
