The Summary Of Fate Idea In Caoyu's Early Dramas

This thesis studied and summed up the fate idea in Caoyu's early dramas. The main views of the thesis are that the fate ideas in Chinese and western culture were very important for the art taste of Caoyu's early dramas. And it is one of the important reasons for his four famous dramas (thunder-storms, sun rising, the open country, Beijingese) being loved so long time. The fate ideas of Caoyu' early drama and his art skills were deeply influenced by western culture. The thought base of the fate idea in Caoyu's early dramas is petty bourgeois's democracy and humanitarianism, which developed slowly.The first part of the thesis researched the origin of the fate ideas of Caoyu's early dramas and the art skills. It included four aspects, Christianity culture, ancient Greece tragedy, famous western dramatist and Chinese traditional culture. At the same time, this four aspects are also four characteristics and composing parts of the fate idea in Caoyu's early drama.Christianity culture is obvious in thunder-storms and sun rising. The author said that he couldn't control the fate of the character in the drama himself, in fact, he were practicing a kind of religion thought, which were analyzed in the thesis comparing the dramas with the bible, when researching the open country, I pointed out that Qiuhu was not a farmer, his revenge was not farmer vs. lord, which made the religion significance appeared. Using the model of conflict between human being and fate from ancient Greece, Caoyu showed the life tragedy of Chinese society deeply, the fate idea in Caoyu's early dramas have connection with Ibsenian's society tragedy, Shakespeare's character tragedy, Oneal's soul tragedy and Qikuov's small potatoes tragedy. The influence of Chinese traditional culture is less obvious than that of western culture, but it is important for absorbing the western culture.The second part of the thesis researched Caoyu's thought, looking into the quality, shaping and evolvement of the fate idea in Caoyu's early drama. Caoyu's early thought is various, petty bourgeois's democracy, humanitarianism, modernism and ancient Greece tragedy seriousness are the main. Although there are a little fancy socialism in it, the quality of histhought is Jacobinical petty bourgeois's democracy and humanitarianism, gradually turning left then. It is reasonable for Caoyu to accept this kind of thought and fate idea.There are 3 arrangements of the second part. The first is the important factors for the shaping of the fate idea in Caoyu's early drama, including his accepting more folk belief, dense religion atmosphere, seeing a lot of momen's unfortunate fate, drama movement in that time. The second is how the core of caoyu's thought shaped, including petty bourgeois's democracy, humanitarianism, modernism and ancient Greece tragedy seriousness. The third is the small development of his thought and its reasons, including his age, the interface with the CCP, the war of resisting Japan, etc.
