Originating from the system of ceremony and propriety of Zhou Dynasty, Court music is the special music used in palace ceremonies and religion rites such as offering sacrifices to gods and ancestors. Court music especially emphasized solemnity in politics and orthodoxy of the Confucian's ideal so that it could reflect situations of culture, politics and society of Dynasty. This paper mainly discusses the difference in the Court Music between Tang and Song.This paper includes three parts: the preface, the main body and the concluding remarks.The preface explains the definition and connotation of the Court Music, the achievements of predecessors and the purpose and meanings of this paper.The main body of the paper expounds the different features between the Court Music of Tang Dynasty and Song Dynasty from three aspects that the processes of executions, the respective characters, and the attitudes of the emperors and ministers about the Court Music.The concluding remarks summarize this paper and state the viewpoint that the Court Music could reflect culture, politics and society of Dynasty again.
