Research On The Characters Of The Ancient Legends

The ancient legends had exerted far-flung influence on Chinese ancient history for more than two thousand years. This article is directed by historical materialism instead of historical idealism. Based on the self-questioning of the theory of Cenglei and the theory of dual proofs, the article divided the characters into two parts according to the inscriptions on bones or tortoise shells of the Yin Dynasty ruins and the correlative historical documents. One part should be regarded as fabrication rather than real characters of ancient legends. Those characters were fabricated by the scholars of Warring states. Some characters were made in ordered to give proof of the scholar's theory. Some characters derived from generalized the development of ancient civilization. The other referred to the characters who had developed from God to human. This characters were the Gods of the original religion. The research on the characters is very important to understand the essence of legends, and helps to the studies of the origin of Chinese civilization.
