With the change of the structure of the society and the family, peer conflicts frequently occur in peer interactions. Ability to coping with peer conflicts correctly becomes the key of the children building well peer relationships. The study of the peer conflicts indicated that the ability to cope with peer conflicts is relate to whether children can use the strategy of "means-ends analysis " , which is just the strategy of self-monitoring on solving problems. The purpose of this study was to find a valid intervention method to promote children' s ability to cope with peer conflicts. We used the self-monitoring model on solving problems as the intervention method. This research took the 2 × 2 factors experimental design and randomly sampled two classes of each grade(Grade Three and Grade Five) from Tongzipo primary school in Changsha as experimental groups and control groups. The experimental groups received 3 months' self-monitoring training and the control groups got the normal schooling' s teaching. We got the following results:(1) Self-monitoring training can enhance the children' s ability to cope with peer conflicts.(2)There are age and gender differences in the effect of self-monitoring training. The best effect comes out with Grade Five. And female students' effect is better than male students' .(3) Self-monitoring training on coping with peer conflicts is removable to the remaining interactions and the driving interactions.
