The Research Of Auxiliary Verb In Han Fei Zi

The auxiliary verb is a group of words belonging to verb, and it has its own particular grammatical feature .The paper studies all the auxiliary verbs in Han Fei Zi by analying them from three aspects of sytactics,semantics and pragmatics in order to outline the characteristics of Chinese auxiliary verbs at the end of ZhanGuo and the development of the auxiliary verb.Firstly, we give a brief introuduction of Han Fei Zi and of the auxiliary verb comcering its name, concept of parts of speech and its position in the phrase system , the quality and grammatical function of the struncture of "anxiliary verb+VP" Moreover, we bring up the present state of research in the auxiliary verb, the present problem and present our own standpoint in the constrast.Secondly, we study specifically the auxiliary verbs in Han Fei Zi. According to their semantics, we analyse and describe specially the auxiliary verbs in this book one by one. We study the development situation of the auxiliary verbs, sort out the syetem of the auxiliary verbs in Han Fei Zi in some degree.There are eleven auxiliary verbs in Han Fei Zi which is divided into four groups in the paper: the auxiliary verbs for possibility, the auxiliary verbs for wish, the auxiliary verbs to ought to and the auxiliary verbs to deserve. We observe and study the sytactics,semantics and pragmatics of every auxiliary verb in usage, putting great emphasis on the type of sytantical structure in which every auxiliary verb appears. Besides, we differentiate the auxiliary verbs of the similar meaning in sytactics,semantics and pragmatics. In conclusion , the auxiliary verb is an organic system of each independent and adding to each other.In the third part, we analyse statistically the usage of the auxiliary verbs in Han Fei Zi from the above description. By comparing the auxiliary verbs in Han Fei Zi with those in SiShu in the pre-Qin and Shi Shuo Xin Yu ,we discover that there are some changes of the auxiliary verb from remote ages to the middle ancient times and explain the changes from the standpoint of pragmations..Basing on the former analysis,we come to some conclusions:the auxiliary verb in the pre-Qin days has been formed by the end of ZhanGuo.In the process formation, there exists a law - the language is tending to simplicity and to complex at the same time. These two tendencies can be implemented without coming into conflict The auxiliary verb is an organic system of trends .The struction of "auxiliary verb+ VP" is a decisive factor which causes common verbs shifting into the auxiliary verbs.
