The Investigation And Research Of The Dialect In Leiyang City

Leiyang City is located in the Gan Dialect area where Xiang (Hunan Province) and Gan (Jiangxi Province) is closely connected. And because of the specialty of its geographical location, Leiyang Dialect gains its characteristics. Importance is attached to the description of the consonants vowels and tone and the phonetic features of the city zone of Leiyang in this paper. Also some opinions are put forward based on the comparison with some other dialects, with the purpose to offer some materials for the overall research on the Gan Dialect in Hunan Province. This paper falls into seven parts.Part 1: Preface. Introduced in this part are Leiyang's geographical location, population, organizational system, history evolution, general situation of dialect used in Leiyang, general situation of the city zone of Leiyang, and general research situation of Leiyang Dialect.Part 2: The phonological system of the word in Leiyang city zone and the description of its consonants vowels and tone.Part 3: The homonym of Leiyang Dialect in Leiyang city zone. Part 4: Analysis of the features of the phonological system of the words in Leiyang city zone. Diachronic comparison is made between the words in Leiyang city zone and the mid-ancient sound in Leiyang in Guangyun phonological system to study its law of evolution of the consonants vowels and tone.Part 5: Phonetic comparison between the words in Leiyang city zone and the mandarin. Synchronic comparison is made between the words in Leiyang city zone and the mandarin to find their corresponding relationship.Part 6: Description of the case of variant pronunciation in literary reading and colloquial reading in this dialect. Discussion is made on the case of variantpronunciation in literary reading and colloquial reading in this dialect according to consonant, simple or compound vowel, note respectively to dialyze the historical arrangement of the words in Leiyang city zone.Part 7: Conclusion. Summing-up of the phonetic character of the words in Leiyang city zone and concluding of their historically original relationship on the basis of the general analyzing research in this paper as well as the reference to the materials of human culture.
