Study Of Phonetic Features Of Huashi Dialect In Xiangtan County

Xiangtan dialect is regarded as one of representative of xiangdialects. It is put into the same district with Changsha dialect andZhuzhou dialect, when we divide Xiang dialects into several districts. Infact, Xiangtan county dialect has some difference; with Xiangtan citydialect. Xiangtan county dialect is complex. However, there have beenfew documents on the study of the dialects in Xiangtan county. Besides itwas mentioned in local works, sometimes covered by the study focusedon the Dialects of Xiangtan city. Considering that, we choose Huashidialect to describe and analyze. Huashi is a town of Xiangtan county. Wemainly describe the phonetic system of Huashi dialect. In addition, acomparison will be made among several counties. Meanwhile wecompare Huashi dialect with other several towns in Xiangtan county. Wetry to draw a conclusion to the division of Xiangtan county dialect. As forresearch methods, we get direct information through investigating in thelocality, and we combine comparative method and analytical method.The paper includes five parts.The first chapter shows us the main purpose of our research and thepresent studies on the Xiangtan county dialects. Prod the first chapterintroduces the geography, the history, the population and the languageused in Xiangtan county.The second chapter mainly describes phonological system. In thispart, we describes the phonetic system, the features of initials, finals, andthe tone of Huashi dialect. Then, syllabary of homophones is made togive detail materials for understanding phonetic structure of Huashidialect.The third chapter mainly describes and analyse,; literary reading andcolloquial reading.The fouth chapter are the comparison among Huashi dialect,Changsha dialect, Shuangfeng dialect and Hengshan dialect, and thecomparison among Huashi dialect and other several towns of Xiangtancounty. Through comparative and analytical methods we get knowledge to the differences and the connections among four cities and severaltowns.The last chapter is a brief summary. In this part the writer her ownopinions on the Huashi dialect.
