Analysis Of Singing Timber From Various Perspctives And Its Application

Tone color plays a significant role in vocal music singing. Professor Shenxiang has once told his students, "Besides various of basic skills, a singer or an instrumentalist must possess tone color which is the most important and characteristic. With bad tone color or even without it, one can never become a master in the field of vocal music." In vocal music singing, we pursue an egocentric and correct tone color. However, during actual singing, we can not lack change and contrast of tone color, therefore readjusting it frequently according to the contents of the works. This thesis is intended to make a comprehensive research into tone color, summarizing kinds of factors that influence tone color from different perspectives, such as from the perspective of singing physiology, singing technology, singing psychology, aesthetic sense of culture and so on. On the basis of clarifying how to control tone color, it also explores how to recreate the works through the variety of tone color in the process of actual singing so as to form a special singing style and to express the main idea and sentiment of the works more accurately.
