A Study Of The Ritual Music For Five Ceremonies In Song Dynasty

It has long been accepted in academic circles that the music of song Dynasty was on she way towards continuous wane after prosperity in Sui Dynasty and Tang Dynasty, and therefore ,the research on royal music of Song is comparatively weak ., Song is a turning Period of Chinese ancient culture of music, and the rulers of Song laid great importance on the application of royal music. This dissertation targets are the ritualistic music of five rituals in this paper .And categorizing according to respective functions and operating time and palaces of Five-rituals, the author Summarize the procedures,and categories of music in the Five-rituals, and offers references to study the royal music of Song Dynasty. Meanwhile, the author makes investigations and interpretations the music scores in the book of On Rituals in ZhongXin Period, so as to provide testimony for the exact characteristics of ancient royal music. The dissertation is writer on the base of historical literature with the combination of such research methods as music histories and music culture in an effort to analyze comprehensively the categories and features of Five-ritual music of Song Dynasty. The whole dissertation fall into three parts: The former Part deals with the sorts of Five-rituals and typical ritualistic music, mainly concluding an exploitation of historical materials, listing out different sorts of Five-rituals of song, and making an systematic arrangement of the proceeding formalities of typical ritualistic music in Five-rituals. The medium Part carries on the characteristics of Five-ritual music and the adaptation of the band ,and thus summarizes the respective features of the music so that a holistic command of the characteristics of the music will be achieved. Meanwhile, the adaptation of the band was studied furthermore . The latter Part deal with typical prices and musical movement of Five-ritual music of Song, concerning mainly about analysis and translation of 50 pieces of elegiac music. And further more, it draws a conclusion on the artistic characteristics of royal music itself in Song Dynasty according to typical music movement in Music Records in Song History. As to the academic achievements in this dissertation ,specification will be made exclusively in the Conclusion.
