In our country ,There are a long historical origin and deep social base in folk beliefs. In modern society, folk beliefs has been considered as ignorant and backward feudalistic superstition, it has been criticized and even forbidden for some time . Since the eighties of the 20th century, folk beliefs has presented the upsurge of revival, this demonstrates that it has dogged vitality and great adaptability . The temple can embody all the key elements of folk beliefs . This paper regards temple of Rong'an as the research object of the investigation, try to understand the current situation of present folk beliefs, and then probe into the meaning of folk beliefs in people's actual life and how to treat it correctly. Today, It is positive realistic meaning that how to understanding folk beliefs , paying close attention to its development tendency correctly, studying the relevant tactics to guide folk beliefs , these can promot the variety of culture, safeguard the social stability and push social development harmoniously. Scholars research the folk beliefs starts to regard it as " feudalistic superstition ", numerous researchs name with " superstition ". Since reform and opening-up, the revival of folk beliefs has aroused the people's attention again. Some relevant disciplines have carried on deep research to it from different perspective with it's own methods , theories, Such as folklore , history , anthropology ,etc. These researchers cast aside the view " Folk beliefs is the feudalistic superstition " ,and make a lot of valuable achievements. But as the important prerequisite of studying—the concept of folk beliefs, There are different definitions because different people has different study visual angle and orientation at present. After studying scholars'analysis, combining some relevant theories of folklore ,religion and folk beliefs'own characteristic, I consider folk beliefs is approximate culture of religious belief that it is a kind of idea and behavior ceremony because people have the faith to gods spontaneously, and people taking the individual utility hope as purpose. It is an important content of the folk beliefs in Rong'an to pray to gods for blessing and worship Buddha at temple. The temple is the major playground of the folk Beliefs, it once witnessed the rise and decline of modern history in Rong'an. All the temples of Rong'an were constructed by believer's donation, and they were set up on the location of original temple with the name of resuming tradition. It is identical that where there are numerous temple the Hans distributed density relatively largely. The gods which were enshrined and worshiped in the temple also establish according to the old system of original. Being numerous, gods have reflected the mixing of people's faith. People hold different attitudes to these supernatural faith because of their different position , sex and age. Every activity of the temple in Rong'an still keeps its'region characteristic , but compared with the situation in the past it demonstrates the state shrunk. Faith ceremony and activity simplify, that is the result of the colony meaning of folk beliefs is weakened and the personal reality needs of meaning is being strengthened. According investigate the basic situation of temple in Rong'an ,we can see, the revival of folk beliefs has displayed strong cultural continuity, at the same time it adapts to the change of the modern life , and has more obvious utility tend. It is close relations between the temple and people's life. People pray gods to make their production have a bumper harvest , reduces the calamity, People still hope gods blessing them to be healthy , the marriage is happy, their family can extend from generation to generation, or the gods can predict their life ,and so on. What the people pray is closely linked with their life, the temple become the space with sacred and secular. At the same time, the temple met people in different demands as a place for information interchange. To people in Rong'an, the temple is the component in their daily life, and it occupy the important status in people's life system. The temple has never got the formal recognition from government as a public carrier of folk beliefs. For fine development, the Mazu temple of Guying village in Rong'an, It bases on the local society, and try to linked up with the society with the opening attitude. Mazu temple desalinize the superstition color by supporting community's public affairs, such as helping poor students, relieving charitable affairs, subsidizing village to repair bridges and roads, maintaining the television relay device, holding agricultural lecture , assisting villager's representative conference ,etc. The method of Mazu temple is that the folk beliefs adapts to the society voluntarily and look for the space for survival and development in the modern society. It's method gain the tolerance of the state power for the social behavior that is allowed , agreed which under the government's fuzzy attitude. The beliefs'revival result from the reasons that people want to borrow the gods' strength to look for spirit, and seek for the inherent demand of " harmonious between mankind and nature ". we can't summarize it as simple " feudalistic superstition ", but should distinguish it as "folk faith " and " superstition " .In life, people's faith is mainly "folk faith ", the " superstition " are those extremely psychology and behavior which harmful to individual and society. As it will exist for a long time in socialist period, we must see folk beliefs'passivity promptly, and also face its rationality existing. Only we adopt a correct attitude towards folk beliefs, bring it within the range of management , control it's negative effect, lead it be suitable for socialist spiritual civilization , the positive composition among folk beliefs can serve for the construction of spiritual civilization, and then bring about an advance in harmony of the society .
