The SDS (Form R) has been widely used around the world in the past several decades; it may be used for high school students, college students and the people who want to change their jobs. Of the people surveyed, the vast majority were satisfied with the 1994 edition of Form R. The SDS can be used to explore the relation of occupational activities, competencies, and self-estimates to occupational clusters. After administration of the SDS, its results reviewed to see how a person's particular activities, competencies, and self-estimates compare with various occupational groups. So we revised the forth edition of SDS Form R, and then investigated 1,457 college students in 9 provinces in order to study the relationships of their daydreams of occupations, occupational competencies and interests. The results of this study follow as:1. The SDS (Chinese Edition) has good reliability and validity, and the six major concepts of the theory and the hexagonal arrangement of those concepts was suitable for the college students in China through psychometric analyses. Therefore, the quality of the inventory meets the requirement of psychological testing. Some further analyses shows that the inventory could be used to give guidance to the college students in their occupational choices.2. The recent daydreams of college students focused on social, enterprising, conventional jobs such as teacher, officer, lawyer, manager, author, etc; the earlier daydreams of college students focused on investigative, realistic jobs such as scientist, driver, doctor, nurse, worker, aviator, etc.3. The average marks of six types (SDS) from the highest to lowest in sequence are: Enterprising-Social-Conventional-Artistic-Investigative-Realistic (E-S-C-A-I-R).4.
