This study takes the current social hot topic of female occupational gender stereotypes as an entry point to investigate the implicit attitudes towards college students’ female occupational gender stereotypes through the SC-IAT paradigm. On the basis of this, investigating the impact of imagined contact on female occupational gender stereotypes of college students under different conditions and the intervention effect of different imagined contact levels on the implicit attitude of female occupational gender stereotypes. It proved the effectiveness, persistence and the internal mechanism of self-other overlap in reducing female occupational gender stereotypes, and provides a reference for alleviating college students’ female occupational gender stereotypes. This study is structed as follows:In the Study 1,we conduct univariate analyses of variance(ANOVAs)(imagined contact under different conditions: anti-stereotypical active contact group,no control group, and imagined scene group). The influence of imagined contact on female occupational gender stereotype under different conditions is demonstrate. And the results created that there are significant differences in the implicit attitudes towards female occupational gender stereotypes of imagined contact under different conditions, and the anti-stereotype positive imagined contact group being lower on occupational gender stereotype of college students. On the basis of Study 1,Study 2 employ a pretest and posttest intervention design with different levels of imagined contact to demonstrate the intervention effect of different levels of imagined contact on the implicit attitude of female occupational gender stereotype and its internal mechanism. The experimental group scores is significantly lower than control group on female occupational gender stereotypes through multiple deep imagined contact and this time-lag can last at least 7 days.Self-other overlap plays a partial mediating role in the influence of different imagined contacts on female occupational gender stereotype implicit attitudes. In sum,the study displayed ample evidence as follows:1.College students generally have female occupational gender stereotypes and SC-IAT scores on grade became significantly different.2.Compared with the imagined scenery group and the control group, the anti-stereotype active imagined contact can reduce the implicit female occupational gender stereotype of college students.3.Compared with single mild imagined contact, the ecperimental group can significantly reduce implicit female occupational gender stereotype of college students through multiple deep imagined contact, and the time effect of imagined contact is at least a week, which proved the effectiveness and continuity of multiple deep imagined contact interventions in alleviating implicit sttitudes towards female occupational gender stereotypes.4.Self-other overlap plays aa partial mediating role in the process of different lecels of imagined contact relieving female occupational gender stereotypes.
