| The modern Chinese passive is one of the most heated topics for discussion by grammarians. This thesis mainly describes the syntactic properties of the passives in the Anhua Yiangjiaotang dialect from the point of view of the generative grammar, and gives a preliminary explanation to several syntactic problems concerning the YJT dialect passives.Compared with the Mandarin Chinese passives, the passives in the Anhua YJT dialect are characterized as follows.Firstly, only the monosyllabic passive elements "Bei, Jiao, Rang, Gei" are used in the Mandarin Chinese passives. However, in the passives of the Anhua YJT dialect, the disyllabic words "" and " "can also be used besides the monosyllabic word They are recorded as "让", "让使" and "让得" respectively in this thesis.Secondly, the agent cannot be omitted in the YJT dialect passives. The meanings of short passives in Mandarin Chinese are usually expressed in the form of "unmarked passives" in the Anhua YJT dialect.Thirdly, generally the "retained object passive" is not said in the Anhua YJT dialect, but when the possessive and the possessed do not belong to the relationship of relatives, some people in the YJT think it can also be accepted.Fourthly, the bare noun cannot be the agent or the patient alone, and the word 阿 is required to add directly before it. What's more, [ ] is also required to appear before the bare noun which is in the position of the topic, subject of both the main clause and the small clause of the active sentence, but it mustn't appear before the personal pronoun, the proper noun and the distributive pronoun, which are considered definite themselves. Accordingly, in this thesis we infer that 阿 just before the bare noun in the position of the agent or the patient is very possible a definite marker in the passives of the YJT dialect. In addition, this thesis also probes into the properties of 让 and the difference between 让 and another two passive elements 让使 and 让得 And we infer that in and in are likely passive markers in the YJT dialect passives. On the basis of the description of the properties of the YJT dialect passives, this thesis also deals with several syntactic problems about the YJT dialect passives. The first one is the categorical status of the passive element 让 in the YJT dialect passives. The second one is the syntactic status of the agent noun. The third one is why the short passives do not exist in the YJT dialect. According to the properties of 让 , we think it should be... |
