Exercise is very important in teaching Chinese as a second language .The research on exercise of textbook is very meaningful, we find a lot of scholars have already paid emphasize on exercise research, but now the depth and width are limited, so the research on exercise of textbook is still a new field in teaching Chinese as a second language.In this paper, the author investigate and analyze exercises in there elementary textbooks which are used popular. Through Statistic and compare, and on the basis of some relative theory and some result of scholars' research, comprehensively study the exercises design. The paper analyze there elements of exercise, including the exercise quantity, exercise style and exercise content.Summarize the common rule of the design of the exercises; and through compare, find out some characteristic exercises and some unsuccessful exercises, in order to use for reference in design exercises in the future. On the research result, the author put forwards some referential suggestion for the future textbook compliers .And finally point out some questions on exercise research.
