During the 19th century there are many great litterateurs and famous novelists in England. At that time, many women novelists emerged in and broke though the rule of the men in literature. Jane Austen, the Bronte sister, Mrs. Geskell and George Eliot are representative of them, who described the new image of women with the sharp writing style and sagacious language. This new image is so different from the angel pattern that women are tamable and sentiment in the usually men novel and embodies the strong women consciousness. This paper tries to analyze women consciousness and profoundly discuss a historical process of evolution in these women novels.The paper is made up of four sections. Section 1 mainly discusses the reason why English women novel flourished in 19th century. It analyses the social politic and economic development, slowly improvement of women status as well as historical origin of women novel.From Section 2, the paper focuses the evolutional process of women consciousness. First, women consciousness has primary awakening in early 19th century. Numerous rational domestic angel in Jane Austin's writing embodies her clear - headed and particular women consciousness.Section 3 tries to analyze the Bronte sisters' women consciousness. In their novels, women consciousness grew up rapidly. It is embodied by strong revolt consciousness, fire-new economical consciousness and equality erotic consciousness.Last, section 4 discusses the recession trend of women consciousness in latter 19th century on the base of analysis of cultural background in Victorian Age. This recession trend especially is manifested through Mrs. Geskell and George Eliot's novel.
