The thesis, making full use of the approach of Communicative Language Teaching, Canale and Swain's Framework of Communicative Competence, the theory of Second Language Acquisition(the SLA theory hereafter), as well as the viewpoint of Autonomous Learning, in the main parts of it (i.e. Chapter 2, 3 and 4), sets forth a specific scheme for "English grammar teaching, learning and testing for non-English-major college students", that is, "Communication-based Grammar Teaching", "Self-access Grammar Learning" and "Communicative Grammar Testing". The scheme proved to be available, practical and relatively ideal by means of classroom teaching experiments and testing practice following it. The writer hopes that non-English majors will gain benefit from the scheme and lay a solid grounding in English grammar so as to achieve the goal of developing their ability to use English in an all-round way.
