Folk Art Inspired Modern Art Design

Chinese folk art is the succession of the symbols of our culture. It comes from the original spirit of our ancestors' creation. It also reflects the aesthetics of the nature of our nationality. Being closely bound up with common people's basic necessities of life, the Chinese folk art is produced from people's daily life, and is the natural embodiment of the artistic thoughts and artistic languages of people's labor life. It is also a precious deposit for the modern art design, which will not dry up.According to its origin and theories where the folk art exits, it is a perfect combination of practice and aesthetics. This has common with the characteristic of modern art, which takes creation for practical and aesthetical needs. Therefore, there is an interior necessary connection between the folk art and modern design from the angles of aesthetical psychology, as well as from the angle of creation formality.The main focus of this research lies on how to dig and understand the fine factors in Chinese folk art. Furthermore, the author analyzes how to take those factors as reference to enrich modern design.The innovation of the thesis lies in its analysis and researches on the aspects of sculpt principles, vision symbol language, color characteristics, aesthetics and thoughts of creation on folk art of China. This article also explores on the organic connection of the folk art and the modern design. The thesis also realizes the combination of theory and practice through analysis of certain successful cases. The research implements certain explorative studies on developing Chinese modern design with folk characteristics and blending folk art into modern design.
