The Study Of Beidao's Poetry During His Overseas Period

As the representative of MengLong Poetry Genre, Beidao's works before 1989 has been the focus of many poetry critics, however, there has been less study on his poems after Beidao went overseas for nearly a decade. The overseas period has seen the changes of Beidao's poem that new images like traveler, homeland, and memory appeared, trifle things of daily life came forth, bell-toll and mirror were endowed with more meaning. Also, his poem tone has changed to sober middle age style from cold expression pattern and the poem inner structure has strengthened. Furthermore, although nostalgia mood has been expressed in the overseas poems because of getting away from native land, he still performed as a responsible poet, considering a lot of human nature. Besides these, Beidao has developed his poetry theory when staying abroad. This thesis will develop upon the basis of Beidao's poem after 1989, elaborating its characteristics, spirit as well as poetry theory, which will fill the blank of Beidao study of overseas period and be a footnote for poets having the similar experiences.
