Consumption theory and media theory are going increasingly into our academy, so it is necessary to reinterpret today's literary theory under the situation. According to the modern consumption theory and media theory, the dissertation analyses the consumption condition of literature under the electronic media.In the preface, the dissertation mainly focuses on the dialectic relationships between literary production and literary consumption and reception.In chapter 1, it recapitulates the consumption's context of literature and three literary critical approaches—the Marxist approach, Semiotics, anthropology and sociology approach.In chapter 2, it takes up the consequence of media to literature, and analyzes two phenomena—pictures multiplication and aesthetic distance incline to zero.In chapter 3, it devotes to three parts; the first part is about language signifier' consumption; the second is that literature is regarded as merchandize sign's consumption according to Jean Baudrillard's theory; and the third is related to media consumption.In chapter 4, the dissertation discusses the consumers' initiative and passivity in the process of consumption.In chapter 5, the dissertation discusses some theories on "the end of the literature", it points out that literature won't end but live along with death.When we analyse literary consumption under the modern consumption theory and media theory, we find out lots of problems need analysing again. Although in the dissertation it only tells some tendentious views of author's but some simple answers, but I believe that my study will be helpful to our modern consumption theory.
