The paper simply concludes the relevant studies on mental health of college students that some learners have already done, reasonably analyses the features of relevant scales and cautiously selects them. It also points out the disadvantages of customer research methods and suggests some new ways and prospects of conducting the research of college student mental health, i.e. , (1) the life events have an important effect on college student mental health, and the variation among different grades is remarkable, (2) at least in on aspect of emotion regulation mode, the variation among different students is remarkable, (3)the emotion regulation mode has an important intermediary effect between life events and mental health of college students.In order to test the mentioned three suppositions, the author has conducted a group test of 410 college students that are randomly sampled from three colleges of Jilin province. By analyzing the effective 329 piece of data, the following three main conclusions have been drawn.(1)Regarding the life events of college students, the variation among different sex and major is not remarkable, but among different grade, birth status and residential is remarkable. This verifies the supposition of No. 1, and the reason is to be further studied.(2)Regarding the emotion regulation mode of college students, on the aspect of cognitive reappraisal, the variation among different sex, grades birth status and major is remarkable which basically verifies the supposition of No. 2. While on the aspect of expression suppression, only the variation among different residential is remarkable, particularly, the student from countryside are more apt to suppress their expression, so the get a remarkable high points than the urban students, and the reason for this is to be further studied.(3)Regarding the relationships between life event, emotion regulation mode and mental health of college students, by path analysis, we found that interpersonal relationships and health adaptation have a direct effect on mental health, what's more, interpersonal relationships and learning have an indirect effect on mental health through cognitive reappraisal and expression suppression.At last, we cautiously draw the conclusion that it is generally feasible to foresee the mental health status of college students by testing of their life event and emotion regulation mode.
