Study Of The C-E Translation Of TV News

News translation plays an important role in news transmission. In China a lot of studies have been made in the translation of journalistic news. TV news, as a new media of transmission, has been a part of our life, and the TV English news is not a strange matter to the public. TV English news in China has played an important role in the international promotion of China as a window for foreigners to learn about the country today. Based on Chinese news, it is translated by Chinese translators and then broadcasted. However, little effort is made in C-E translation of TV news.In view of this, the thesis makes a detailed study on this subject, which contains six parts. In the first chapter, the author overviews the recent studies and some achievements on news translation in China briefly. Many scholars make studies on news translation on the basis of different theories from different perspectives, and publish some relevant thesis and books as well. However, few people is engaged in the C-E translation of TV news except Wu Zixuan. Thus there is great importance and the necessity to research the C-E translation of TV news. Then the author makes analysis to the C-E translation of TV news from three perspectives. The second chapter refers to the structure of TV news, which includes news headline, news lead and news body. The author analyzes the different characteristics of each part respectively and at the same time gives some translation examples. As for the stylistic characteristics, TV news also has some special features in its text, syntax and vocabulary, for example TV English news often use simple sentences and the words in it are somewhat oral, which should be paid great attention to in the translation. All of these are explained in the third chapter. Finally, in the fourth chapter, based on the theory of Rewriting and Manipulation, the thesis points out that the C-E translation of TV news is under the influence of patron as well, for most spectators of TV English news are the foreigners living in China, the translator must take into consideration Chinese image to the world. Besides, the differences between Chinese culture and English culture, the picture of TV English news and its limitation on time should also be taken into account.In the hope of doing a favor to the translation practice, the author at last briefly introduce three translation methods often used in C-E translation of TV news: explanation, abridgment and adaptation and then sum up the whole thesis and points out the shortcoming in it.
