In the new period, scholars in the Educational History researched many aspects of the school education except for the funds of schools in ancient time. Few researches talked about the funds of public schools in the Song Dynasty.This thesis try to list the situation of financing, using and management of public schools in the Song Dynasty, in the same time find its features and values.This thesis contents five parts: firstly introduces public schools in the Song Dynasty, then discusses three questions about funds—financing, using and management, finally comment on the funds system of public schools in the Song Dynasty.We find that the dominator of the Song Dynasty attached importance to the development of schools. They not only offered financial funds but also established some steadily earning channels for example school fields and rent houses. At the same time, they encouraged beneficence from social or individuals. Compared with the former dynasties, the Song Dynasty took the school education as a commonweal. They regarded the education independently and instituted the office, official of education. Particularly, the funds and earnings were managed by schools and can be used only for schools.On the other hand, the funds system of the Song Dynasty had some shortages, for example: the volatile political situation affected the devotion of funds near Northern Song and Southern Song; some funds are wasted in the fete because of rites of Confucius.
