| Ping-hua in Guangxi contains Northern-Gui-Pinghua and Southern-Gui-Pinghua. The study of Southern-Gui-Ping-hua ,which has been defined as subordinated-dialect of Yue-Dialect, has gone a long way. With regard to Northern-Gui-Pinghua, although there are many achievements having been made, the schedule about it still perched in investigating-period, and there are no final conclusions that to what it belongs in present. It has many differences within the system of Southern-Gui-Ping-hua, and it is difficult to communicate for the members in different places. So none of the dialect can be considered as the representative of Southern-Gui-Ping-hua at present time. None but investigating thoroughly and finding the language features clearly can draw a conclusion to the issue.In order to provide the study of Northern-Gui-Ping-Hua the first-hand data, and to probe into its home, and based on these datum, to inquire the evolution law of Chinese Language, especially phonetic of Chinese, this thesis has accomplished three pieces of work. Firstly, it has deeply investigated the Liutang-Local-Dialect in Lin-gui County. Secondly, it has described and analyzed the characteristics of its phonetics, vocabulary and grammar. Thirdly, by comparing with the dialects in regions near Liutang Town, it has concluded that the Liutang-Local-Dialect in Lin-gui County which has been deeply and orderly influenced by Ancient-Viet-Language, Southwest-Official-Dialect(mainly refer to Guilin-Dialect), belongs to Northern-Gui-Pinghua.As a thesis of dialectology, the writing methods in this thesis have two aspects: investigation and research accordingly. On the one hand, the investigation methods mainly follow Short-period-many-times-investigation-method, produced by Professor Liu-cunhan. On the other hand, the research method is mainly referred to historical comparative method.(1) Historical comparing. By comparing the pronounciation of the Liutang-Local-Dialect with phonetics in Middle-Ancient-Chinese, we can study the pronounciation characteristics of the Liutang-Local-Dialect; by Guangyun(广韵), Jiyun(集韵), or other ancient literatures ,we can find out the Initial-Character of the Liutang-Local-Dialect, by historical documents, we can find out the ancient chinese words in the Liutang-Local-Dialect; by records of events inscribed on a tablet or books of home tree, we can confirm the latest years when the Liutang-Local-Dialect had developed.(2)Comparing in one time. We can compare pronounciation of the Liutang-Local-Dialect with pronounciation of Beijing to describe the phonetical system of the Liutang-Local-Dialect; we can also compare the characteristics of pronounciation, vocabulary and grammar, among the Liutang-Local-Dialect and Northern-Gui-Pinghua ,Southern-Gui-Pinghua, Yue-Dialect, Southern-Official-Dialect, Southern-Xiang-Local-dialect ,Northern-Yue-Local-dialect, to decide the home of the Huis-Local-Dialect and find out some common laws of Chinese development.This thesis has only a little original ideas. Now we can recount the following achievements. Firstly, it confirmed the home of the Liutang-Local-Dialect in Lin-gui County, and provide the first-hand datum to the study of Northern-Gui-Pinghua. Secondly, it studied the gradations of the the Liutang-Local-Dialect, and designed the process of it's development. Finally, it finds out some rules of Chinese language, such as the way in which the entering-tone-phonet of Middle-Ancient-Chinese have gone, the characteristics of words in ancient Chinese, the two-same-words-formation,etc.The sequence that the contents of this thesis displayed is as following. Chapter 1 is forewords. As a brief introduction, this section has reviewed the related achievements which the senior have made , the general situation of Liutang Town, and the main differences within the Liutang-Dialect. Chapter 2 described the phonology and its features of the Liutang-Dialect ,involves its intitials, vowels and tones. And described the tone sandhi of the Liutang-Dialect. Compared the pronounciation of the Liutang-Local-Dialect with the Beijing tone and Middle Ancient Chinese to study the phonetic characteristics of the Liutang-Local-Dialect. Chapter 3 and chapter 4 studied the characteristics of the vocabulary and the grammar. Appendix 1 is homophony syllabary of the Liutang-Local-Dialect in Lin-gui County. Appendix 2 is vocabularies of the Liutang-Local-Dialect. Appendix 3 are my papers issued during my graduate career.
